In a plot taken from today's headlines, the U.S. economy is sliding into another Great Recession, a resurgent Russia plans to manipulate the oil market, and NSA is listening to everyone. With his re-election in peril, the President agrees with advisors; release the anger of Jacqueline Desjardin. Suicidal, suffering from PTSD, the beautiful French photojournalist seeks revenge for tragic losses suffered as a child. Manipulated by forces an ocean away, Desjardin becomes a pawn in a macabre plan devised by a secret Pentagon hit squad. The K Street Boys takes you inside the White House, NSA, the Pentagon, and into the minds of military bureaucrats and politicians protecting their power at any cost. Les Kinney's storytelling will enchant you with engaging characters and spell binding action. Get ready for the best read of the year.

As a former federal agent, I was extremely impressed with K Street Boys. In addition to a plot that just wouldn't quit, it accurately depicted the mindset, procedures and, yes, problems in the often-hidden world of federal law enforcement. Author Kinney chose his characters carefully, and vividly brought them to life in a wholly believable fashion. At times, I actually felt like I was back on the job with my cohorts, so detailed and accurate were his depictions.

I especially admired Kinney's descriptions of the locations in the book. As with Washington, D.C., and other settings, Kinney's prior research paid off, and a reader can literally follow the action on a map. At one point, the story moved across the Pacific to the city of Tokyo, Japan. Having lived and worked in Tokyo myself, I immediately recognized each of the locations depicted; Kinney nailed them all!

I found it difficult to believe this was Kinney's first effort, as his writing compares favorably with that of some of the well-known names of this genre. I would unhesitatingly recommend K Street to anyone who is interested in making a journey into the unknown, often murky, reaches of our federal government, and who is prepared for 456 pages of well-written, often intense, action.

Finally I understand the term "page turner". Les Kinney's book "The K Street Boys is a page turner. I couldn't put it down. Excellent read in this election year.
Realistic plot line sets the backdrop for a racing read. Living in DC the location descriptions and political manuverings are all accurate. Well penned story with cliff-hangers and plenty of action.
This author writes like a seasoned professional and I really enjoyed his style. His characters were real and the cliff hangers made it difficult to put the book down. If you like political thrillers, you will love this book!
If you like a good scavenger hunt full of government intrigue, than you will thoroughly enjoy this read. The K Street Boys is entertaining yet eerily prophetical. Mr. Kinney's description of the inner workings of the Pentagon, his accurate portrayal of the NSA, and a hint of the current technology that agency is deploying is remarkably similar to the picture painted by the recent whistle blowing subcontractor at NSA.

Without giving away the principal plot, Alexis, a young reporter for the Washington Post stumbles upon a secret government plan she knows is illegal, and as she says, "immoral." She turns to her father, a retiring federal agent for advice. Disgruntled and thoroughly shaken by the new government approach to solving world issues, Harlan tells his daughter to forget this one - it could put both of them in prison for a long time.

There are sub-plots, and like the unraveling of NSA's recently exposed secret project, an ethical dilemma to debate. Kinney's characters are well defined, human, and often funny. The book is well written, the dialogue portrays real people, not the 'super' heroes one often sees with today's best sellers. What's even better, the pace quickens as the story moves to its climatic finish. You can see Kinney has walked the walk and has crafted the novel from real life experiences. If I could find one fault with this thriller, it would be the use of several leading characters to weave the story. Although in Kinney's defense, the inner workings of government are not a one man/woman show.
Nice job by the author. Great character development. He showed some real "inside knowledge" of how US Government agencies operate, both good and bad. This was a real page turner, especially the second half of the book. I also appreciated that the author didn't feel the need to interject needless "sex scenes" that lesser caliber authors who don't fully comprehend the novel genre feel the need to include.

Two take aways from this book. Keep your cell phone turned off when you're not using it (there's a reason they aren't allowed in DoD classified areas), and that new huge NSA facility in Utah, yes, you need to be worried about it.
A fast paced read that sets the reader right in the middle Of Washington "behind closed doors." I couldn't wait to get to the ending to see how it all played out!
The K Street Boys - Les Kinney, 10/6/12

A fast-paced thriller that does not disappoint or "bog down". It has
everything - mystery, conspiracy, intrigue, assasination - all with
a little humor and levity thrown in. The climactic ending is exciting
and satisfying. I could not put this book down.
